Design by communities: REALM was engaged to lead a group of 20 stakeholders through a series of workshops with the goal of building consensus on a public realm master plan for a specific area of Downtown Columbus. Hosted in REALM’s Ideation Studio, large exhibits lined the walls to facilitate a shared understanding of the site analysis and findings that were observed. Additionally, a series of visionary ideas where presented in an adjacent part of the studio that allowed each stakeholder to comment with sticky notes and provide direct feedback to the design team.

Interactive iteration: Through this process, the analog nature of the exhibits and large open format provided an open-minded space where there was plenty of conversation, ideation and consensus. Groups were able to ask questions, provide feedback, and collaborate with one another and the design team as much as they felt comfortable. REALM has since been able to catalog that feedback and has been able assist in place-making ideation surrounded around the identity of Downtown.
